What is the International Year of Planet Earth?
IYPE aims to ensure greater and more effective use of the knowledge accumulated by the world’s 400,000 earth scientists. It is a joint initiative of UNESCO and the International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS). The main activities of the International Year of Planet Earth operate within science and outreach programs.
 
The United Nations sees IYPE as a contribution to their sustainable development targets as it promotes wise (sustainable) use of Earth materials and encourages better planning and management to reduce risks for the world’s inhabitants.
 
Why is it three years long?
The International Year runs from January 2007 to December 2009. The central year of the triennium – 2008 – was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly as the UN Year.

Q: How do I place an order?

If you are a returning client or have received your user name and password from us, please enter those details and click on 'Submit'.
If you are a new client, go to the second section ('I wish to register to use the OnLine English service') and click on 'Register'.
If you have forgotten your user name and password, go to the third section, type in your email address, click on 'Submit', and you will receive a message immediately with your logon details.

Q: Can I send my document to you by fax?

A: OnLine English does not handle hardcopy documents sent by fax or post. All documents are uploaded by our clients to our website, and the OLE-revised version is then made available for download from our website. If requested, we can also return your revised document via the Internet to your email address.

Q: What file formats do you accept?

A: Please see our list of list of accepted file formats.

Q: What is the turn-around time you need to edit my document?

A: OnLine English fees and turn-around times are calculated on the word count of your document. Please see our turn-around times. The turn-around time commences when OnLine English sends our confirmation of your order, usually within six hours of receiving the document.

Q: Do you have an express service?

A: Yes. There is a 50% surcharge for the express service; the turn-around time is half the standard service turn-around time.

Q: Can you tell me your fee before you begin editing my document?

A: Please see our fee schedule. If you would like to receive a precise quotation, please upload your document, fill in the order details, and write "Please provide a quotation before editing my document" in the Comments section. Or, if you prefer, send your document as an attachment to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it and we will provide a precise quotation by email.

Q: Can you reformat my document so that it complies with the requirements of a journal?

A: Yes. We can reformat the text only, the references only, or the complete document. Please see our fee schedule for details of the reformatting service.

Q: Should I include large graphics within my document?

A: OnLine English is unable to accept documents of more than 5 MB. If your document is larger, please remove large graphics to reduce the file size below 5 MB. If you have graphics that include English text for editing, please save the text in a separate Word or plain text file, and upload with your main document.

Q: Can I pay you by cheque in my own country's currency?

A: Please see our list of accepted currencies.

Q: Do you edit documents in LaTeX or Scientific Word format?

A: Yes.

Q. Can I use your editing service and be sure I will receive quality editing?

Q. Can you help me improve my English?

A. Please see learners' resources for links to other websites that may assist you. If, during or after the editing process, you have a specific question about an aspect of English, we will be pleased to assist you.

Q. Can I change the details of my order after you have confirmed my order?

A. Because of our fast turn-around time, we cannot accept changes to your order if you make those changes more than six hours after we have sent you our 'Confirmation of order' message. If you advise us of changes to your order within six hours, we will almost always be able to contact your editing team in time.

Q. After I have received my revised document, can I ask you follow-up questions?

A. Yes, your editing team remains available to answer questions and review minor changes to your document, even after you have paid for the service. After you receive your OnLine English-revised documents, please check our comments and changes. Through our follow-up service, we will continue working with you until you are satisfied with the quality of our work.

Q. How do I ask for your follow-up service?

A. Log on to your webpage, and click on the order number. (If you have already advised us that you are fully satisfied with our editing, you will find your order in 'View my recent orders'.) When your order page opens, click on 'Follow-up request' at the top of the page. After you have read our instructions on how to prepare your follow-up request, click on 'Continue' to upload your document.
