Client Services Manager & Systems Administrator

OnLine English provides academic editing services for authors whose native language is not English. We are based in Australia and have been operating globally over the Internet since 1995.

We are seeking a person to join our management team in the dual role of Client Services Manager (CSM) & Systems Administrator (SA).

We operate 7 days per week, and this role is shared between two managers. The other manager currently works 5 days per week, and this position will be initially for 2 days per week, later expanding to additional days. There will be opportunity to supplement the salary with regular editing work on a contract basis on other days.

The CSM part of the role is primary (80%) and entails responsibility for monitoring the day-to-day operation of the business, supervising a small team of Client Services Coordinators and resolving operational issues. The SA part of the role (20%) is secondary and entails responsibility for monitoring IT systems, managing our proprietary online order management system and resolving technical issues.

We require a person who has:

  • high-level English literacy (must be a native English speaker), preferably including professional academic editing experience;
  • high-level computer literacy, preferably including experience with online business systems, especially databases (MS Access + SQL Server) and websites (WordPress);
  • substantial academic experience;
  • substantial business / administration experience;
  • a strong customer service focus for working with our clients, and strong written communication skills for working with our admin and editing teams (many of our clients and editors are senior academics);
  • the latest version of MS Office on a PC, and proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook;
  • reliable high-speed internet access; and
  • availability to work outside “normal” business hours on weekdays and weekends (we work entirely online and operate 24/7/365).

The position will suit a highly experienced person who wants to work from home, wants to work part-time, is able to edit academic documents with a high degree of proficiency, takes pride in maintaining very high standards, and enjoys working flexible hours and performing a variety of regular and ad hoc management and administration tasks with a high degree of autonomy within a clear set of expectations.
